Tocantins has three state holidays, the newest since 2025: Lord of Bonfim on 15 August, Our Lady of the Nativity, the patron saint, on 8 September, and the state's creation on 5 October. 2027: 13 national and state holidays, 9 on weekdays, and 252 working days. The state's creation, 5 October 1988, is a holiday under Law 98/1989; the patron saint under Law 627/1993; and Lord of Bonfim, a traditional festival of Natividade, under Law 4,509 of September 2024, in effect from 2025. Autonomy Day, 18 March, no longer appears on official calendars and is left out of the count. In 2027, 8 September falls on a Wednesday, right after Independence Day on the Tuesday. Palmas has, under municipal Law 577/1996, Saint Joseph on 19 March, Good Friday, the city anniversary on 20 May and All Souls' Day.
