About Quando é Feriado

Radif Partners is an independent publisher with no tie to any government, city hall or bank. For Quando é Feriado it reads the official text of Law 662/1949, Law 6,802/1980, Law 14,759/2023 and Law 9,093/1995, each state's own holiday law and the municipal laws of the state capitals, and follows the Ministry of Management's yearly ordinance on optional days off. Easter, Carnival and Corpus Christi come from a tested algorithm. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Why this site exists

In Brazil the question "is tomorrow a holiday?" has no single answer. Nine national dates apply everywhere, Good Friday almost everywhere, and then each state and each city adds its own: Rio de Janeiro has Carnival Tuesday and Saint George's Day, Acre moves its state holidays to Fridays, Santa Catarina celebrates its state day on a Sunday. Most holiday lists copy one another, mix optional days off with real holidays and never say which law they read. This site lists each date with the law behind it and the day we last read it, and leaves out what we could not confirm in an official text.

Who publishes it

The publisher is Radif Partners, a company that builds tools from public rules and data. Radif Partners is not a public body or a law firm, has no link with the federal, state or municipal governments of Brazil and uses no coats of arms or official logos. The site sells no trips, hotels or packages and carries no affiliate links.

Where the data comes from

National holidays come from Law 662/1949, Law 6,802/1980 (12 October) and Law 14,759/2023 (20 November); Good Friday from Law 9,093/1995. Federal optional days off come from the Ministry of Management's yearly ordinance, for 2026 the MGI ordinance 11,460/2025. State holidays come from each state's laws, constitution or decree, such as Acre's Law 2,126/2009 on moving holidays to Friday. Capital-city holidays are taken one by one from the municipal law; a capital whose law we could not read is not listed. Last full reading: 28 October 2026. How dates are computed is on the method page; how we correct mistakes is in the editorial policy.

Your data

Every calculator runs in your browser. The state, city and days off you enter are neither sent nor stored. There is no account and no form. Details are in the privacy notice.

What the site does not do

It does not tell you whether your employer must give you a day off: bridge days, Carnival and optional days off depend on your contract, collective agreement or, for civil servants, the government's decree. Bank and court calendars have their own rules. School holidays are not covered.
