In Recife, the Federal Court of the 5th Region lists Saint John's Day, 24 June, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the city's patron saint, 16 July, as 2026 municipal holidays, based on municipal Law 9,777/1967; the law could not be opened on the council's site. Carnival in Recife and Olinda depends on a decree each year.
